September 2003 Microsoft-Vimicro Multimedia Technology Center was established in Beijing to develop next generation digital multimedia technologies and applications. The strategic partnership between the two companies entered a new era.

May 2003 During the SARS period, Xiaotangshan Hospital installed Vimicro video communication VXP system. Video conferencing technology joined the frontline in fighting SARS.

January 24th, 2003 Chinese President Mr. Hu Jintao visited Zhongguancun and met with Vimicro Chairman Dr. John Deng.February 2003, Vimicro's forth chip product, Vimicro's mobile camera processor, successfully landed in US market. It was adopted by Sprint PCS in their "Vision" handsets for mobile multimedia application.

September 2002 China Telecom launched "High-speed Broadband Multimedia" alliance with participation from Microsoft, Sina, Alcatel, Huawei, ZTE, Dell, and Vimicro. Vimicro's broadband video communication system was also adopted by China Telecom as the designated platform solution.

April 2002 Vimicro's second chip product, a new generation PC USB camera processor with integrated audio and video processing, was released. It was later adopted by leading PC USB camera vendors such as HP, Creative and Logitech.

January 2002 Vimicro and Microsoft signed a memorandum in Beijing to collaborate on promoting digital multimedia technologies in worldwide market. Vimicro PC multimedia chips achieved WHQL certification for Microsoft Windows XP platform, the first among Chinese chip vendors.

July 2001 Vice Premier Wu Bangguo appraised on the success of Vimicro multimedia chips entering into worldwide market. Mr. Zhou Guangzhao, President of Chinese Academy of Science, paid a visit to Vimicro.

March 11th, 2001 Vimicro released the first chip product, an advanced imaging processor for PC USB camera market. The chip was successfully adopted by Samsung and Philips in their system designs.

November 2000 Tsinghua-Vimicro Microelectronics Research Center was established in Tsinghua University. Mr. Zhou Guangzhao , President of Chinese Academy of Science was appointed as the honorary Director with Dr. John Deng, Chairman and CEO of Vimicro, as the Director.

March 2000 Vimicro Advisory Committee was established including members from both Chinese and US Academy of Science and Engineering. The committee was chaired by Professor Chang-lin Tien, former Chancellor of UC Berkeley, member of US Academy of Science, US Academy of Engineering, and Chinese Academy of Engineering. Professor Tien was also one of the founding investors of Vimicro.

January 2000 Vimicro established its subsidiary in Silicon Valley, followed with branch offices in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

October 1999 Vimicro Corporation was founded in Beijing Zhongguancun, dedicated to develop digital multimedia chips.
