Physics, M.S.'97 Economics, Ph.D.'97 EECS in
University of California, Berkeley) and Tom
Zhang, Founder, Vice President of business development
of Vimicro (Ph.D.'04 EECS in University of California,
Berkeley) are rising stars in Chinese nascent
technology industry. Vimicro leads 60 percent
of the global PC camera chips market share.
Meanwhile, it owns a large percentage of the
Chinese cell phone multimedia chip market share.
In late March, Vimciro was honored with the
first class of The National Science and Technology
Progress Award by Hu Jintao, the President of
P.R. China. This award is one of the highest
honors ever presented to Chinese integrated
circuits design industry.
