Vimicro's VXP video communication system has been deployed
at XiaoTangShan Hospital, Beijing's leading medical facility fighting

Beijing, China, May. 16 -- It is announced today that
Vimicro's VXP video communication system has been deployed at
XiaoTangShan Hospital in Beijing to facilitate its fight against
SARS. XiaoTangShan Hospital is Beijing's latest, largest and most
advanced medical facility focusing on the treatment of SARS epidemic.
This VXP video communication system adopts world leading multimedia
communication technologies, and its core technologies is entirely
developed and owned by Vimicro in China, from its imaging processing
chip, PC camera hardware to multimedia communication software
and its operation platform. This system covers the entire living,
treatment, and quarantine sector of the hospital. It allows doctors
and nurses to communicate with their patients "face to face"
without unnecessary physical contact, improve work efficiency,
and can offer off-site medical consultation and group therapy.
This marks the first time that video communication system has
ever been put into practice as part of the medical treatment process
in China.
