Microsoft and Vimicro Partner for Worldwide
Digital Imaging Promotion

Microsoft enters a strategic alliance with Vimicro to promote
its VXP digital imaging technology
Beijing, China, Jan. 11 -- Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq:
MSFT - News) and Vimicro Corporation, a leading digital imaging
solution provider, today signed memorandum on strategic partnership
to jointly promote Windows-based digital imaging technology
in worldwide market. This partnership aims at combining Vimicro's
VXP imaging technology with Windows XP platform to provide
unprecedented multimedia experience to PC users worldwide.
Microsoft also presented its WHQL certification to Vimicro's
VXP, the first it ever issued in China.
Vimicro is the first domestic hi-tech company exporting its
digital imaging products to worldwide market, and its flagship
Starlight I chip is the first WHQL certified product by Microsoft
in China. "Over the past several years, we have been actively
working with our Chinese partners in information industry
to better promote their state-of-the-art products and technologies
to worldwide market," said Alex Huang, President of Microsoft
Greater China, "Vimicro's VXP digital imaging technology and
communication system adopts SOC (System on Chip) technologies
to seamlessly combines imaging processing, compression and
communication on a single chip. It effectively expands Window
XP's multimedia experience and provides efficient ways for
video communication between PC users."
