VC0838 is a high performance mobile
multimedia processor with mega-pixel camera and audio
function for advanced mobile multimedia products,
providing a low cost, power efficient single-chip
solution that brings the ultimate live image and music
experience to mobile phone users.
VC0838 integrates MP3 decoder, 64-polyphony Wavetable
MIDI synthesizer, 16-bit 48KHz Delta-Sigma DAC, Speaker
Power Amplifier, Image Signal Processing (ISP) unit,
Image Post Processing (IPP) unit, JPEG codec , on-chip
384KB SRAM into a 8mm x 8mm 128-pin BGA package. VC0838
has more than 4 channels of streaming audio that enables
some advanced functions, such as MP3 mixed with MIDI,
3D sound effect, user-defined musical instrument,
user-defined sound effect, vibrator controlled by
rhythm, RGB colored LED controlled by rhythm and caller
ID, hands-free operation, karaoke, etc.
On the mobile video application side, VC0838 integrates
a direct CMOS/CCD image sensor interface and a LCD
display module, together with its display sub-module,
VC0838 provides Graphics RAM that are allocated from
the on-chip 384KB SRAM for host CPU to write to the
LCD panel directly. VC0838 supports overlay and alpha-blending
functions between video stream and the graphics from
the host CPU, along with an integrated graphics engine
delivering graphics acceleration for clipping, line
drawing, BitBLT, etc.
